BMHS Library Citation Guide: MLA 8th Edition

In 1883, the Modern Language Association was founded to provide opportunities for members to share their scholarly work with colleagues.  MLA format provide guidelines for  documenting sources for scholarly writing. It is widely used by students, teachers, scholars and academic journals throughout the world.  MLA recommends the use of set of guidelines that writers can apply to any type of source.  Citations consist of the MLA core elements commonly found in most works.  Works are cited within text with brief parenthetical citations which direct readers to the works cited list.
