BMHS Library Citation Guide: Citation Information

A citation is how you give credit to all the sources you;ve used in your research.  Citations usually include the author, title, publisher, place of publication, date, pages and URL (if online).  The style of the citation dictates the format and in what order the information should appear.

How do I choose a citation style?

There are three most utilized citation formats:

  • APA (American Psychological Association) is used by Education, Psychology, and Sciences
  • MLA (Modern Language Association) style is used by the Humanities
  • Chicago/Turabian style is generally used by Business, History, and the Fine Arts

You will need to ask your teacher as to which format they prefer you to use for your research.
